Cherry Valley is a very Kunstlerian town. Not because "It's All Good" is one of Jim Kunstler's catch-phrases, but because Jim lives in upstate New York, and writes about a post-peak-oil time when he thinks we'll all be much poorer, forced to live in a more local way than we do now. His new novel on the subject comes out this fall.

This is the sign for Cherry Valley's organic food store, a brand new store in a very cheap space that sells local produce and expensive organic products from elsewhere. Directly across the street is an older food store, which used to be the town's only food store. There's a picture of it a few clicks farther on.
