A map showing Princeton's Gothic zone. The arrows show the orientation of photos 001 and 020.

A gate in Blair Hall, a Gothic dormitory near the top of the map, is one gateway from the train station to the old campus. A picturesque ramble down the hill goes between many of the Gothic buildings, now ending at Whitman College (and view 001).

Before construction, construction managers for the university shrank the colleges, to save money. I suspect that is why the eastern side of Whitman College feels too far away from the road to the east. If it were closer, it would feel more like the courtyards in the Gothic ramble to the north of Whitman.
