Gas Taxes

Over at the City Comforts blog and Andrew Sullivan's blog they've been talking about gas prices. And, of course, gas taxes, because the two go hand in hand.

One of the main reasons we have California's new Governator is that the old governor wanted to raise gas taxes. Here's what George Bush thinks. Oh, those wacky bicycle riders!

Colin Powell said before 9/11 that if we wanted to maintain our SUV, drive-everywhere lifestyle, we should expect Middle Eastern wars.

I thought the old governor wanted to raise the car tax, not the gas tax. As it stands, doesn't California already have the highest gas prices in the US?

I never fail to be shocked that California still does not have an extensive public transport system. They clearly need it.
