More Third Good Places — Tea Rooms, British
To go along with my posts on favorite coffee houses (also here and here) and London pubs, here's a list from the British newspaper The Independent on the 50 best tea rooms in the world:
50 best ... places for afternoon teaCategories include, Best around the world, Best for tea on the lawn, Best grand hotel teas, Best shopper's delights and Best village tearooms. Each of the 50 places listed has a link to a short description. One lump or two? That's the most taxing decision you should have to face during these lazy, late summer afternoons. Whether you're in the city, the country or holidaying abroad, Jenni Muir and her expert panel can tell you where to find the finest tea and cakes (18 August 2001)
Don't be fooled by the way the Independent starts off with a list of places around the world. This is a very British list. And not for two-fisted drinkers or Dick Cheney. (They're too girly for me, to tell the truth.)
