Introduction
This house is in Cherry Valley, New York, seven miles along a beautiful old road from Cooperstown, New York (where I went because Phil Bess was leading a charrette for the Notre Dame urban design graduate students). The house is at the southern end of the main street, a short walk from the center of town. When the Erie Canal was young the area was rich for a short time, and the area has some excellent Greek Revival houses.
