Introduction

In 2002, we drove from Munich to Paris, with short stays in Baden-Baden and Besançon. The Roman baths in Baden Baden were wonderful, but that's for another post. This photo album shows two places we visited near Besançon: Claude-Nicolas Ledoux's Royal Salt Works in Arc et Senans and Le Corbusier's chapel at Ronchamps. At the end are a few photos of our hotel room in Besançon, which we found by chance late in the day.

Only half the plan for the Salt Works was built, as can be seen in the aerial photo above a model of the complete design.
